Tithes

“When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied. Then say to the LORD your God: ‘I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them. I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while I was in mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor have I offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the LORD my God; I have done everything you commanded me. Look down from heaven, your holy dwelling place and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us as you promised on oath to our forefathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’”

A New Superfood!

God gave me a new witty invention. You may have heard kale, sweet potato and spinach are the best foods that you can eat. The Lord gave me a new superfood. It’s called the Bread of Life. When you eat this food it will work such a miracle in you that you will live forever. This supersubstantial bread is so powerful, that it also goes by the name of Jesus Christ. All you have to do to eat this bread is believe that Jesus is Lord and resurrected from the dead. It’s that simple. Eat this bread and you will live forever.

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever.”

Standing on the Promises

(verse one)
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Thru eternal ages let His praises ring;
Glory in the highest I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

CHORUS:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Saviour;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

(verse two)
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

CHORUS:

(verse three)
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

CHORUS:

(verse four)
Standing on the promises I cannot fail,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Saviour as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

CHORUS:

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me not drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”—Jesus Christ

All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;

In His presence daily live.

I surrender all,

All to Thee, my blessed Savior,

All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;

Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Thee, my blessed Savior,

All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;

All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

Softly and Tenderly

“Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He’s waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.

Come home,
Come home,
Ye who are weary, come home.
Earnestly, tenderly,
Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.

Come home,
Come home,
Ye who are weary, come home.
Earnestly, tenderly,
Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

By Will L. Thompson (1847-1909)

It's the first day of Lent. A celebration of the time Jesus fasted for 40 days. It's a time of watching and praying, a time to examine our consciences. It's a time of reconciliation with Him. It's a time for the prodigals to come back to Him. God is waiting to run to meet you with open arms, put a ring on your finger, a robe on your back, kill the fatted calf and have a feast to rejoice at your returning. He's wishing you would return.

Jesus’ First Miracle: He Turned Water Into Wine

“…there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee…when they wanted wine the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’
His mother said to the servants, ‘Whatever he says to you, to it.’
Jesus said to them, ‘Fill the water pots with water.’
And they filled them…When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine…the governor of the feast called the bridegroom…This is the beginning of miracles Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”

VIEW FROM MY WINDOW

Here's a a saying I want to share that I got by following @PastorJohnHagee on Twitter. He comes up with some very wise ones:

"Love is like loaves and fishes; it doesn't

multiply until you give it away."
“Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.”

A House Divided Against Itself

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.”

(Matthew 12: 22-30; The Holy Bible)

“…God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are; that no flesh should glory in his presence.”

Faith of Our Fathers

“Faith of our fathers, living still
I spite of dungeon, fire and sword—
O how our hearts beat high with joy
When e’er we hear that glorious word!

Faith of our fathers, holy faith,
We will be true to thee till death!

Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free,
How sweet would be their children’s fate
If they, like them, could die for thee!

Faith of our fathers, holy faith,
We will be true to thee till death!

Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach thee too, as love knows how,
By kindly words and virtuous life.

Faith of our fathers, holy faith,
We will be true to thee till death!

PART TWO OF "THE REVELATION" READ ALOUD ON VIDEO

This is the second part of my two part series in which I read The Revelation of Saint John the Divine aloud and recorded it on video. If you were able to view and listen to part one, I hope you enjoyed it. I was blessed by reading it aloud. I hope these videos encourage you in your walk with Christ.

This reading is from The King James Version of The Holy Bible. It is a literal, archaic translation. I usually read The Amplified Bible translation. That is a paraphrased version. This time I read from The King James Version because it is in the public domain. No one owns the copyright to it, so there's no need to get permission. I would like to know if I need permission to read a modern translation. I should email the publisher of the Amplified Bible and see if he would mind my reading it on the world wide web.

Click on the link below to go to the Youtube video of me reading this aloud. This second and last video of the series is about 41 minutes long. The nice thing about watching Youtube videos is, you can pause it if you want to get a drink or go to the restroom.

Jesus said, "Will you not watch with me one hour?"
Here's your chance. It won't even last an hour. Sit back, relax and enjoy the reading of chapters 12-22 of the little book called The Revelation.

Click this link to view the video.

Peace and joy,
Bill

PART ONE OF "THE REVELATION" READ ALOUD ON VIDEO (two part series)

I made two videos of my reading of The Revelation of Saint John the Divine. This is the last book of the King James Version of The Holy Bible. The Revelation is made up of 22 chapters. The first video is chapters 1-11. The second video is chapters 12 -22.

The first video lasts about 46 minutes. If you have time, get a cold or hot drink, turn up the volume and be blessed by hearing The Revelation read aloud. It blesses me by reading it. I hope you will be blessed by hearing it read. Click on the link below and, if the link works, you should be able to hear and see me reading. You may want to use headphones, but I felt the audio quality is pretty good. I used a headset to record the video so it should be loud and clear.

Click here to view and listen to video.

Peace and joy,
Bill

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.
One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in magazines for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.

CRANKY OLD MAN

What do you see nurses? . . .. . .What do you see?
What are you thinking .. . when you're looking at me?
A cranky old man, . . . . . .not very wise,
Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . .. with faraway eyes?
Who dribbles his food .. . ... . . and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice . .'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice . . .the things that you do.
And forever is losing . . . . . .. . . A sock or shoe?
Who, resisting or not . . . ... lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding . . . .The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking?. .Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse .you're not looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, .. . . . as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten . .with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters .. . . .. . who love one another
A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now . . .. . . a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at Twenty . . . ..my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows .. .. .that I promised to keep.
At Twenty-Five, now . . . . .I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide . . . And a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty . .. . . . . My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other . . .. With ties that should last.
At Forty, my young sons .. .have grown and are gone,
But my woman is beside me . . to see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more, .. ...Babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . . . . My loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me . . . . My wife is now dead.
I look at the future ... . . . . I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing .. . . young of their own.
And I think of the years . . . And the love that I've known.
I'm now an old man . . . . . . .. and nature is cruel.
It's jest to make old age . . . . . . . look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles .. .. . grace and vigour, depart.
There is now a stone . . . where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass . A young man still dwells,
And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells
I remember the joys . . . . .. . I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living . . . . . . . life over again.
I think of the years, all too few . . .. gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact . . . that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people .. . . . .. . . open and see.
Not a cranky old man .
Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!!

Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within ... We will all, one day, be there, too!

It's 27 degrees outside with snow squalls. This is what's happening inside for lunch. It's Bean and Sausage Soup made with my Homemade American Sausage (it's my top secret, special blend of herbs and spices). It cooked overnight in the slow cooker for 11 hours. Nice day to be inside with a bowl of hot soup.
God's peace and joy to you all. Stay warm,
