Why Right? Why Left?

Been studying the scriptures for a few hours today as well as watching and praying. Perfect opportunity to do things like that. Very thankful The Lord provided books for me to flesh out words in The Bible (as well as His Holy Spirit--even more so) and a time and place in which to do it. "the government shall be upon His shoulder..." (Isaiah 9:6b). Thank You God for The Messiah and the United States of America! Our government! God bless the USA!

I did a study on left and right today. These words are significant. There's just so much about God to know and understand. I'm really seeking to understand the scriptures in which I've professed to believe for almost all my life.

"And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left." (Matthew 25:32,33). (Why left? Whyright? There's just so much to know).

"IF YE then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the righthand of God." (Colossians 3:2,3)  (Why right? There's just so much to know).

According to my Bible dictionary, the left was considered sinister. The word "right" is in the word "righteous", which would imply "good" (Why left? Why right?  There's just so much to know).

"Standing on the right also indicates the place of the accuser in judicial settings. (from The International Bible Encyclopedia) (Why right? There's just so much to know).

"Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his righthand." (Psalm 109:6). (Why right? There's just so much to know).

"Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at theright hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." (Romans 8:34). (Why right? There's just so much to know).

There's just so much to know and understand about God and the Kingdom of Heaven. I've got so far to go to have the understanding I need to give God all the glory even half as well as Jesus did in His short life on earth.

He said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." (John 14:12,13)

I guess the best we can do is try to live in accordance with the scriptures and give Him the glory as much as we can. "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." (Proverbs 3:6).

"...Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." (Romans 13:9b, 10)

Hopefully, we can pray for our leaders and those in authority over us so we can continue to live quiet, peaceable lives, and can study and understand the mysteries of the scriptures and know how we are supposed to live in accordance with the scriptures and walk according to the spirit and to give God the glory.

"I EXHORT therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved , and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (1 Timothy 2:1-6)

Prepare to die! It's inevitable.

"And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:  And he thought within himself, saying What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barn. and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

But God said unto him Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be, which thou has provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." (Luke 12:16-21).

Well, I had quite a bit of excitement in my life yesterday. I officiated at my first wedding. I had planned a wedding with this couple in 2010 and for some reason it didn't take place until yesterday. I was pleased (not to mention, totally thrilled) at how well it turned out.

We had the ceremony in the courtyard of our apartment building. Had a great turnout of folks who came to act as witnesses and welcome the couple as newlyweds for the first time. It was a Christian ceremony, so I had a ball. They're both Christian and so it was encouraging to everyone to see them tie the knot. The groom came to quite a few of our Church meetings we held here in our community room.

Hopefully, it planted the seed in the hearts of those present to make a similar decision if they haven't done so already (unless, of course, like me, they are celibate and don't burn with passion for anyone; in which case, they're better off staying single).
Peace and joy,
Bill
